All the talking is nearly over, and we now know who will tee it up when it all kicks off tomorrow morning.

After enough hype and promotion to make Vince McMahon blush, the 2014 Ryder Cup is almost ready to get going. After both captains, Europe’s Paul McGinley and USA’s Tom Watson, delivered their opening addresses at Gleneagles, the two men also named the players who would kick the whole shebang off.

Unsurprisingly, both have gone for Ryder Cup veterans and big names in the bid to get the fourballs off to a winning start.

First out will be Bubba Watson/Webb Simpson v Justin Rose/Henrik Stenson. Featuring three Major winners (Watson, Simpson and Rose) and a man who has been very close to winning one, this should be great.

Match 2 is Rickie Fowler/Jimmy Walker v Thomas Bjorn/Martin Kaymer. With the best will in the world, this match doesn’t look the most thrilling on paper, but that said we might be pleasantly surprised.

Match 3 pits Jordan Spieth/Patrick Reed v Steven Gallagher/Ian Poulter. This looks a doozy, with three rookies (Spieth, Reed and Gallagher) along with the man who loves this competition. Having Poulter alongside the rookie seems a wise move by McGinley.

However, it is Match 4 we can’t wait for, as Keegan Bradley and Phil Mickelson teams up to play Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy. This match could be explosive and will set the tone for the afternoon foursomes too.

Bring it on.
