J-League

Dylan Higgins’ Van Gaal’s Army raced to the top of the J-League this week after outscoring everyone else in the top five by at least 17 points. He leads previous leader Pairic Sheehan by just two points, with Michael O’Rourke’s GUFC six points further back in third place. Bryan Sheehan’s Games of Throw-Ins move up to fourth after a solid 59 points last weekend, with Kev Dunne’s Jedi Saber Knights a point further adrift and just about hanging onto top five status.

Gameweek 8

On a weekend where Super Sunday truly lives up to its name, the most appetising encounter in terms of returning points for Fantasy Football managers, on paper at least, is Manchester City’s home clash with Newcastle United. That said, the individual form of some of the players involved in those big games is hard to ignore. Anthony Martial and Juan Mata have been doing the business for Manchester United of late, while Alexis Sanchez has ended his drought in spectacular fashion with four goals in two games. during the Barclays Premier League match between West Bromwich Albion and Everton at The Hawthorns on September 28, 2015 in West Bromwich, United Kingdom. Liverpool will have trouble handling Romelu Lukaku after his brace against West Brom and though Leicester were hammered by Arsenal last weekend, the form of Jamie Vardy, who scored twice in that game and has scored in the Foxes’ last four outings, should be taken into account.

This week’s picks

Safe bet: Juan Mata (£8.8 million). Followed up his goal and assist against Sunderland with another one of each against Wolfsburg in midweek. Three goals, two assists and 34 points in his last four league games, he is the form player for the league leaders at the moment. Dark horse: Eric Dier (£5.1 million). It’s not often that Spurs have the best defence in the league but they do at the moment and Dier has been an integral part of it. Has only missed 14 minutes of league action so far and has chipped in with two goals too. Good value at that price. during the Capital One Cup third round match between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal at White Hart Lane on September 23, 2015 in London, England. Captain’s pick: Sergio Aguero (£13.2 million). We’re this close from losing patience with the Argentinean but he scored in midweek and a home clash with Newcastle is too good an opportunity to pass up. during the Capital One Cup third round match between Sunderland and Manchester City at Stadium of Light on September 22, 2015 in Sunderland, England.
