The three players you need in your Fantasy Football team this week

J-League

Chaos reigned in the J-League in the last weekend of Premier League action before the international break, with only one member of the top five managing to hold on to their places amongst the league’s elite.

The casualties included the leaders, Padraic Flesk’s Dyslexia Untied, who dropped out of the top five completely and surrendered the lead to Christy O’Neill’s The Klopp End.

Christy’s charges came from nowhere to surge to the top with an 81-point haul, with captain Diego Costa, Roberto Firmino and Laurent Koscielny amongst the players proving their worth.

The only survivor from the top five last time out was Paul Clerkin’s Drumgarley Dynamite, who hung onto second spot despite scoring just 50 points.

He is joined there by Evan O’Sullivan’s Dutch Gold Gatletic, with the top five made up by another pair of newcomers, William Byrne’s Under Dogs and Michael Quealy’s Strong BJW.

Gameweek 8

If you’ve tuned into Sky Sports any time in last week, you won’t have been able to escape talk of ‘Red Monday,’ although the first Liverpool v Manchester United clash of the season is a legitimate cause of excitement.

With hosts Liverpool having scored 13 goals in their last four league games, you would have to fancy Jurgen Klopp’s men as favourites and if it’s Fantasy Football points you’re after, it is to their attacking midfield contingent – Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and (injury permitting) Adam Lallana – that most managers will look.

during the EFL Cup Third Round match between Derby County and Liverpool at iPro Stadium on September 20, 2016 in Derby, England.

Speaking of form sides, Arsenal are on a five-game winning streak in the league and should have too much for Swansea at the Emirates in Bob Bradley’s first game in charge.

Pep Guardiola would probably have preferred an easier game from which to bounce back from their first league defeat than a meeting with Ronald Koeman’s Everton, while if you’re looking for value, you could do worse than take a punt on players from Crystal Palace, who have 10 points from their last four league games.

This week’s picks

Safe bet: Son Heung-Min (£7.7 million). Deservedly named as the Player of the Month for September, the South Korean has contributed four goals, two assists and 43 points in just four starts, an average of just under 11 points per game.

He also scored for South Korea during the international break and is on a hot streak that is impossible to ignore.

Dark horse: Callum Wilson (£6.4 million). The Bournemouth striker had been looking in good nick before injury ruined his campaign last season, but he’s back on track with two goals in his last four matches.

during the Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion at Vitality Stadium on September 10, 2016 in Bournemouth, England.

Captain’s choice: Diego Costa (£10.1 million). Chelsea haven’t exactly been hitting the heights so far this season, but their temperamental frontman has quietly become the highest-scoring striker (goals and Fantasy Football points) in the league.

Leicester have shown how porous they can be at the back against both Liverpool and Manchester United and if the Spaniard is at it, you could easily see him adding to his six goals and 46 points so far.
