J-League

Things are tighter than a pair of Jamie Redknapp’s trousers in the J-League after Gameweek 8, with three teams inseparable at the top of the J-League.

Last week’s leaders, Christy O’Neill’s The Klopp End, have managed to hang onto the top spot, where they are now joined by William Byrne’s Under Dogs and Evan O’Sullivan’s Dutch Gold Gatletic.

Edward Reidy’s Fc Reidinho are ten points adrift of the leaders in fourth place and have eight points to spare over Paul Clerkin’s Drumgarley Dynamite in fifth.

Gameweek 9

The much-hyped Red Monday meeting of Liverpool v Manchester United couldn’t have done a worse job of living up to expectations and one would surely think that the latter’s meeting with Chelsea will have to be a better spectacle in what is, on paper at least, the standout game of the weekend.

Before that game on Sunday afternoon, three of the top four – Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool – are all in action, at home, against teams that you’d expect them to beat. As a result, the potential to earn some valuable Fantasy Football points is quite strong this week.

during the Premier League match between Manchester City and Everton at Etihad Stadium on October 15, 2016 in Manchester, England.

Let’s hope for the sake of everyone that chose a Manchester City player as captain last time out that Pep has had his squad practising penalties this week.

This week’s picks

Safe bet: Dele Alli (£8.2 million). With Harry Kane absent, Spurs have been relying on their midfield for their attacking thrust. They’re spurning plenty of chances, but Alli is a good man to get a goal and has got two in the last two league games, scoring 18 points in the process.

during the Premier League match between West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham Hotspur at The Hawthorns on October 15, 2016 in West Bromwich, England.

Dark horse: Joe Allen (£4.9 million). The man once labelled ‘the Welsh Xavi’ can’t stop scoring at the moment, with four in his last three games earning him 35 points.

Costing less than £5 million and playing in a more advanced role (and playing Hull this weekend), the former Liverpool man is a bargain at the moment.

during the Premier League match between Stoke City and Sunderland at Bet365 Stadium on October 15, 2016 in Stoke on Trent, England.

Captain’s choice: Theo Walcott (£7.9 million). There’s been a lot of talk about his rejuvenation this season, including from the man himself. To be fair to Walcott, he’s backed it up and is now the joint highest scoring player in Fantasy Football along with Diego Costa.

Thanks to four goals (he really should have added another pair against Swansea) and an assist, Walcott has contributed 40 points in the last four games alone, a tally he’ll expect to add to handsomely at home to out-of-form Middlesbrough on Saturday.
