There’s set to be a new football league established specifically for obese men

Carl Kinsella

They’re missing a trick if they don’t call this The Rotundesliga.

A five-a-side league specifically for men whose BMIs are 30 or above is being set up in the West Midlands of England.

The league will run for fourteen weeks, and teams will gain points not only for games won but also for weight lost. It has been organised by the manvfat website.

Speaking too BBC Radio 5 Andy Allsop, who weighs 23 stone, has said that he prefers this system to Weightwatchers because instead of ‘talking about their weight’, the lads can simply weight themselves and then get into a bit of football in the one situation where they can ‘back themselves for pace.’

We think it’s an excellent idea to improve the health and fitness of anyone’s who’s struggling with weight. Surely it’s only a matter of time before this catches on in Ireland.
