There’s some good news ahead of the Ireland team announcement today

About time too...

It looks like Jonathan Sexton will be fit to face Argentina for Ireland this Sunday.

It’s about time Ireland had some good news, with Sexton and Keith Earls both expected to train later today ahead of the team announcement.

Paul O’Connell and Peter O’Mahony will both miss the rest of the Rugby World Cup, while Sean O’Brien is suspended for the quarter-final, so the news regarding Sexton and Earls will come as a relief to head coach Joe Schmidt.

Ireland team manager Mick Kearney said: “Johnny did quite a bit of running (on Wednesday) and is expected to train (on Friday).”

Kearney also stated that Earls sat out training on Tuesday and was “basically managing his load. Keith has participated in all our matches and all our training sessions so we thought it best he sat out training. He will train fully tomorrow.”
