Ben Affleck says that Conor McGregor influenced his fighting style as Batman

The Notorious Dark Knight.

Christian Bale’s physical transformation from The Machinist to Batman Begins was incredibly impressive, we can only imagine the diet and training regime that the Welsh actor undertook to get himself fighting fit for the role, but Ben Affleck’s latest take on The Caped Crusader is drawing inspiration from a very different source, Conor McGregor.

In Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, Bale incorporated a fighting style that was known as the Keysi Fighting Method to make his version of Batman more physical, but Affleck has said that he used the UFC featherweight champion as inspiration for the fight sequences in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Speaking with Reuters about Batman’s fighting style, Affleck said ” He’s a little bit more of a brawler. You kind of get a feeling like physical, visceral slugger-thing,” said the Hollywood star. The fights are more like smash-mouth, kind of UFC-influenced, like Conor McGregor style”.

When you think about it, there’s not too much of a leap to make from Batman to McGregor. Both men love to hurt people, they have a taste for theatrics, divide opinion and are utterly dedicated to their cause.

All we need now is the Batmobile to be spotted around Dublin.
