The three players you need in your Fantasy Football team this week

Fantasy managers looking for points should have Kevin on de Bruyne.

J-League

It’s been a few weeks since our last bulletin and in that time the landscape has changed dramatically at the top of the J-League, so much so that only two of the top five remain from last time out.

One of those two teams is Ogie Nolan’s Tullig Panthers, who are carving out quite a lead at the top of the J-League, with 35 points to spare over Kris O’Connor’s Bunchofcake in second place.

Barry Grennan’s Garrymore UTD are a further seven points back in third, while the bare minimum separates Eoin McCarthy’s Muang Thong Athletic from Alan Duggan’s Klippity Klopp in fourth and fifth place.

J-League Top 5

  1. Tullig Panthers** – Ogie Nolan: 1,412 points
  2. Bunchofcake – Kris O’Connor: 1,377 points
  3. Garrymore UTD – Barry Grennan: 1,370 points
  4. Muang Thong Athletic – Eoin McCarthy: 1,366 points
  5. Klippity Klopp – Alan Duggan: 1,365 points

Gameweek 24

The big games are coming thick and fast for Chelsea, who couldn’t look more comfortable at the top of the table and who this weekend host Arsenal, who couldn’t look less comfortable as one of the leaders of the chasing pack.

That fixture at Stamford Bridge is a great way to kick off a weekend that looks light on big games thereafter; Leicester hosting Manchester United on Sunday afternoon is probably the next best, but both teams are stuck in the middle of quite a big rut at the moment.

In contrast, the hammering against Everton aside, it’s been a decent start to 2017 for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who have scored nine goals in their last three games.

Importantly for Guardiola, some of his key generals appear to be picking up form at a pretty crucial time and while it’s too easy to say that a certain new signing may be the saviour of their season, things are looking positive for Pep at the moment.

This week’s picks

Safe bet: Seamus Coleman (£5.7 million). A worthy player of the month nominee for January, the Irish skipper has been in tremendous form for the Toffees of late and with a goal, two assists and two clean sheets combining for 32 points in his last three games, his Fantasy Football stats are looking pretty healthy too.

Dark horse: Gabriel Jesus (£9.1 million). We’ve seen all the evidence we need in just a few games to shamelessly hop aboard the Gabriel Jesus bandwagon; sure it’s early days, but the young Brazilian looks a helluva player.

A goal and an assist against West Ham in midweek, watch out for him adding to those numbers against Swansea at home on Sunday.

Captain’s choice: Kevin de Bruyne (£10.5 million). Ridiculously good earlier in the season, the Belgian’s form tailed off for some time but he’s rediscovered it in fine style in recent weeks.

With two goals, an assist and 21 points in his last two games, De Bruyne looks the best candidate for the armband this weekend, even if City do face a Swansea side with two wins in their last two league games.
