The three players you need in your Fantasy Football team this week

Dele Alli is really earning his Spurs.

J-League

As you’d expect, there was plenty of change in the J-League over the festive period with only one team, Declan Rynne’s Sweeper System?, maintaining their place in the top five.

Declan’s charges had top spot taken off them by Ogie Nolan’s Tulig Panthers, who came from nowhere to carve out a 23-point lead at the top of the table, thanks in no small part to a whopping 98 points in Gameweek 20.

Alan Duggan’s Klippity Klopp are well placed to make a charge of their own in third place, with Ronan Mullen’s Best Around FC and Paul Stirrat’s Fer Fuchs Ake both well in touch of the leaders in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Gameweek 21

In this day and age, the third round of the FA Cup does little to whet the appetite of many football fans, so it’s good to know the Premier League is back with a bang this weekend.

For once, Super Sunday really does live up to the name with two clashes pitting Merseyside and Manchester against one another, with the 4pm meeting of Manchester United and Liverpool taking top billing.

We all remember Red Monday, of course, but surely the latest meeting of the great rivals can’t be as pitifully dreary as that encounter, right?

The form of both sides bodes well for a cracker, but it might be in Fantasy Football managers’ best interests to cast their eyes further afield in search of points, specifically towards a Tottenham side who halted Chelsea’s momentum in impressive style last time out.

Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane are all in fine form for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who kick off the weekend with a home tie against West Brom.

Arsenal’s visit to a fragile Swansea side also provides plenty of potential for points, while Leicester could be tricky opposition for leaders Chelsea at the King Power if they’re in the mood they were in when trashing Manchester City at home last month.

This week’s picks

Safe bet: Michail Antonio (£6.8 million). A JOE favourite ever since he pulled off a Homer Simpson-inspired celebration last season, only four midfielders have scored more goals than the West Ham man in this campaign, an impressive feat considering the Hammers’ lowly place in the table.

Slaven Bilic’s side have shown signs of improvement of late and at that price, the recent England call-up is worthy of consideration.

Dark horse: Andre Gray (£6.2 million). It’s no secret that Burnley are shocking away from home in the Premier League (they’ve picked up just one point on the road, at Old Trafford) but they’d be fifth in the table if it was based on results at home.

With four goals and 25 points in three games and with an affordable price tag, Gray could be worth a look ahead of the Clarets’ meeting with Southampton on Saturday.

Captain’s choice: Dele Alli (£8.6 million). The Spurs man is apparently turning heads in Barcelona and Real Madrid such has been his devastating run of form of late, a run of form that has led to seven goals and 53 points in his last four games.

When he’s in this mood, it’s hard to argue against handing him the armband.
