Speculation continues over who Conor McGregor’s next fight will be.

The Irish fighter tapped out in the fourth round of his recent fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, and fans are wondering what opponent he’ll choose for his shot at redemption.

On Wednesday morning, Tony Ferguson took to Twitter to give a brief breakdown of why he thinks he could beat McGregor.

“I feel I do my best against ‘Southpaws’,” he wrote. “Most of my finishes are against them w/ style points. I feel if I were to fight @TheNotoriousMMA in a cage or boxing match my “Athleticism” & “Conditioning” would be too much for the Irishman & he would easily break in a Few Rounds.”

Conor McGregor has yet to respond, but the 30-year-old is not one to shy away from a challenge. Not only that, but he has five fights left on his contract with the UFC.

Ferguson has twice been scheduled to fight Khabib and twice the fight has been cancelled, leading many to suspect that Ferguson is probably the top choice for Khabib’s next title defence.

However, across the UFC’s lightweight division, Ferguson is probably also the fans’ preferred choice to next take on McGregor. It sounds like the American fighter, whose record is 24 wins and 3 losses, is up for it. So either way, watch this space.
