Could Mats Hummels be set to join Arsenal?

The Sunday Mirror report that the 25-year-old German defender is available for £30m and that Manchester United are far from the only bidders for the Borussia Dortmund star.

Arsene Wenger is set to challenge Louis van Gaal in a bid to take him to North London, although United remain firm favourites to bring Hummels to Old Trafford.

This one won’t be sorted any time soon and could be one for Jim White Day at the start of September.

Spurs want to bring Eto’0 to White Hart Lane

The Sun on Sunday claim that Tottenham could beat West Ham to the signing of Samuel Eto’o, who is believed to fancy staying in London after being released by Chelsea at the end of last season.

The 33-year-old is far from the marquee signing favoured by fans of Spurs but would provide a useful alternative to Roberto Soldado, who has been dreadful since moving to England last year.

Are Bayern Munich out of the running for Reus?

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has, according to the Sunday Express, distanced the German champions from a move for Borussia Dortmund attacker Marco Reus, giving new hope to both Liverpool and Manchester United that one of the best forward players out there could be plying his trade in England this season.

“I like to give myself a year in advance to make transfer decisions,” he said.

“But this cannot be done in football any more.

“In the past we have tried to clarify our transfers early, but today the philosophy is different.”

It all seems a bit vague to us, to be honest, as there’s no mention of Reus in Rummenigge’s quotes. However, let us dream a little bit longer that an Ozil-sized deal could be done somewhere in the North-West.

And finally…

Garry Monk has insisted that Wilfried Bony will not be allowed to leave Swansea despite repeated claims that Liverpool will go back in for the Ivorian striker… Paris Saint Germain should tie up a €75m deal for Angel di Maria this week, despite interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United… £14m millions could be enough for Brendan Rodgers to sign Mario Balotelli from AC Milan.

Now THAT would be something.
