Brendan Rodgers is expected to spend a big portion of the Luis Suarez fee on Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony…

Liverpool confirmed yesterday that Luis Suarez is leaving them for Barcelona and the fee is thought to be around £75 million. It’s good to get that saga out of the way early in the summer but it kind of leaves the Merseysiders in a difficult position because the price-tag for any player they try to sign now will be inflated.

The only way around that is by finding out if a player has a release clause in their contract and that’s exactly what they’ve done in the case of Swansea striker Wilfried Bony. The Daily Mail says that Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has a bony to pick with Liverpool after they sounded out the player without contacting the Welsh club.

Bony’s release clause is £19 million and the Reds are reportedly keen to do a deal for a player who scored 25 goals in 49 matches last season.

Arsene Wenger is like a young fella who has managed to get his hands on his communion money because the spending is set to continue at the Emirates. According to The Telegraph, Wenger wants to follow up the capture of Alexis Sanchez by adding German international midfielders Lars Bender (above) and Sami Khedira to his squad.

Chelsea are also interested in Khedira so we’ve come to the conclusion that having a shed-load of midfielders in your squad is the biggest trend in London since skinny jeans and skinny lattes. Arsene and Jose – the trendsetters.

Mexico v Cameroon: Group A - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil

New Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is keen to rebuild his squad and to do that, he needs to offload a few players and Cameroon international Alex Song is reportedly on his hit-list.

The Daily Star are linking Manchester United to a move for Song as they see him as the ideal midfield foil to Ander Herrera who joined the Red Devils last month. Chelsea are also sniffing around.

Ajax Amsterdam v NEC Nijmegen - Eredivisie

Elsewhere, the Daily Star are reporting that Stoke manager Mark Hughes is using his connections at Barcelona to secure a loan move for Bojan Krkic, who spent last season in Holland with Ajax. Loic Remy’s future isn’t clear yet but TalkSport say he’ll end up in North London at Arsenal or Tottenham.

The Sun say Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell has attracted interest from around a dozen clubs with Inter Milan, Everton and Valencia all ready to move. The Mirror say Steven Caulkier will leave Cardiff for Crystal Palace while the Guardian suggest that Frazier Campbell will follow suit and the Daily Express are reporting that Newcastle are adding much needed French flair in the shape of Montpellier’s attacking midfielder Remy Cabella.
