Transfer Talk: Reds to bite Sunderland’s hands off over Borini, Chelsea are ‘done’ (except they’re not), QPR offered Eto’o

Is Fabio Borini a £14m striker? The world's gone mad, Ted.

Is Fabio Borini a £14m striker? The world’s gone mad, Ted.

Gus Poyet wants to bring the Liverpool striker back to Sunderland after a mildly successful season on loan, and the fact that they’re willing to secure the Italian with £14m is bound to leave Brendan Rodgers a very, very happy man indeed.

With Luis Suarez and Oussama Assaidi also off the Liverpool books, that’s almost £100m in player sales and Rodgers shows no signs of stopping whatsoever.

There’s that Dejan Lovren nonsense that you just know will go to September 1st, while Ben Davies’ likely move to Spurs should see Liverpool returning to Sevilla with yet another offer for Alberto Moreno lest they end up with Ryan Bertrand at left-back next season.

Most interesting of all for Liverpool is the fact that Loic Remy could be heading to Merseyside for just £8.5m, although he’ll have to lower his wage demands first. Better than Wilfried Bony, most will agree.

Chelsea are “done”

Despite rumours linking Didier Drogba with a return to Chelsea, Jose Mourinho says their summer transfer business ended with Filipe Luis.

The Blues also signed Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Mario Pasalic this summer.

“I have to say my club did a fantastic job, and not just because of what we bought, but because we did it in almost record time. The transfer market closes 31 August and we close our market on July 19. We finished the market today,” said Mourinho.

“The club did fantastic, we knew the targets, we knew the players and the club attacked them and their clubs at a very early stage.

“We got exactly what we need and what we want. The squad is one which I like very much and I look forward to starting the season.”

We still expect a couple of signings – Atletico defender Joao Miranda has been strongly linked – but that could just be us.

QPR are offered Eto’o but unlikely to sign him

One man who who won’t be at Stamford Bridge next season is Samuel Eto’o, but he’s unlikely to be at Loftus Road either.

QPR have been offered the 33-year-old but it’s thought that his wage demands will prevent any move from happening.

And also…

Real Madrid could swap one Alvaro for another – with Morata off to Juventus, Carlo Ancelotti is making amorous glances towards City’s Negredo.

There’s good news for Everton fans as Romelu Lukaku’s permanent signing looks more and more likely to happen in the coming weeks.
