Manchester United will make a move for former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song if they fail to sign Arturo Vidal, according to Saturday morning’s newspapers.
Song has never managed to nail down a place in the Barcelona midfield and would be a far cheaper option than Juventus’ Chilean midfielder.
The Daily Express also report that Louis van Gaal could make a £55m move for Angel di Maria after Paris Saint Germain opted out of a move for the Real Madrid winger.
Finally on United, The Times report that van Gaal has until Friday to seal a move for Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado.
Spurs in ‘trying to get rid of Soldado’ shocker
Well. Well well well. We never saw this coming.
OK, we saw it coming after a miserable first season in the Premier League for Roberto Soldado at Tottenham.
The Daily Telegraph report that Atletico Madrid want to sign the striker on loan for the season but Spurs are only interested in getting rid of the former Valencia man permanently.
We look forward to no longer having to write about Eliaquim bleedin’ Mangala
1966 was a great year for English football. They won the World Cup, Eric Cantona was born and Manchester City were first linked with a move for one of the world’s most highly rated young defenders.
This Mangala nonsense has been going on forever and a day, with the Daily Mail reporting that City are ‘on the verge’ of getting it done.
On the verge. Great. Like that hasn’t been the case since January.
What else?
Javi Garcia’s exit to Zenit St. Petersburg will be greeted by many a shrugged shoulder on the blue side of Manchester… Alberto Moreno will move to Liverpool after Tuesday’s Super Cup… Fraser Forster is on the brink of completing a move to Southampton from Celtic… Tottenham are close to the signing of DeAndre Yedlin from Seattle… Borussia Dortmund say they will do everything they can to keep Marco Reus from joining Manchester United, Liverpool or Arsenal.
