Football fans aren’t giving him much of a chance.
It’s not long since the FA parted ways with Roy Hodgson after England’s shocking performance at this year’s Euro 2016 tournament, but today they’ve found their man.
Sam Allardyce has left Sunderland in order to grasp the honour of managing his national team, and Twitter is, well, in stitches.
Allardyce is not without achievements – having most recently impressively kept Sunderland from relegation – but he is by no means a manager who has proved himself at a top club.
His gruff, British demeanour and portly figure also make him a prime target for meme-afication. So we aren’t too surprised that Twitter has responded to the news in this way.
