Pulled no punches.
Not since Steve McQueen gathered his merry band of P.O.W’s in Germany has there been a greater escape but the job’s not done yet for Limerick after they avoided automatic relegation from the League of Ireland.
Martin Russell’s men will be breathing a huge sigh of relief after they managed to beat the drop to the First Division although a promotion/relegation play-off with Finn Harps awaits. This scenario seemed extremely unlikely though after a 21 match winless run and their 203 days at the bottom of the Premier Division.
Limerick’s safety meant that Drogheda United fell through the relegation trap door and their captain Mick Daly didn’t refrain from giving his honest, frank and incredibly truthful appraisal of a forgettable year for the Louth club.
The former Man City man took to Twitter to give his views on their season and they’re definitely worth a read.
Thank you for all the support, absolutely heart broken tonight but facts be known we were the worst team in the league by a mile.

Congrats to Limerick it was well deserved.. We were a shambles from the very start of the year and got exactly what we deserved

I love this club and loved playing for them. To see them go down fucking breaks my heart. Time to get things in order now and rebuild

The day after we lost 6-0 to Dundalk 8 lads just didn't bother to show up training.. That was the day we got relegated. No fight no passion
