Is this the end for LvG?
Louis Van Gaal made a big call by leaving out captain Wayne Rooney from the starting XI, and while that was admired by many United fans, it hasn’t worked out.
Manchester United have lost 2-0 to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, and it seems like the Old Trafford faithful have well and truly lost their patience with the Dutchman now, if they hadn’t already.
Take a look at just some of the many angry tweets.
Probably the worst @ManUtd performance I’ve seen. The players need to stand up and be counted for. It’s not just down to LVG. #ManUtd

In the past, when #ManUtd went 2-0 down, even with 5 to go, you’d bet on them to win. Now it’s game over Sad state of affairs. #VanGaaltogo
— Paul Frampton (@Paul_Framp) December 26, 2015
Louis Van Gaal made this game do or die on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Manchester United haven’t done the business.
— Adam Sweeney (@AdamWSweeney) December 26, 2015
I’m blaming the board for letting LVG suffer today. It was so obvious we’d be beat. Not replacing RVP was a big mistake. #MUFC
— John Molloy (@JohnMozMolloy) December 26, 2015
Disappointed as a #ManUtd fan with current results, need to get rid of LVG now
— Rachel Homewood (@rach_homewood) December 26, 2015
Depressing to watch #ManUtd stoop to this level!! Definitely needs a lot of change!! Starting with the sacking of #LVG
— Sriram Devatha (@sriramdevatha) December 26, 2015
He has to be gone now? #LvG and hopefully he can take Memphis with him
— Eric Lalor (@ericlalor) December 26, 2015
It’s one thing not being good enough… It’s another not being interested !! #ManUtd #0%Effort

#ManUtd next stop is #Chelsea. Becomes a massive game for both. Pressure only on one manager though….will he survive if they lose?
— Nathan Douglas (@NathanJDouglas) December 26, 2015
Said #JoseMourinho lost dressing room at #Chelsea but looking at #ManUtd players play it looks like #LVG not even allowed in dressing room
— RAFALI (@RAFALI_BB1) December 26, 2015
It’s perfectly reasonable to suggest that United won’t get into the CL again next season. After so much cash splashed that’s criminal
— Fbloke (@TheRealFbloke) December 26, 2015
United result was inevitable tbh. Would be good to see United push through this bad spell and stick with their manager.
— Shane (@AIexis_Sanchez) December 26, 2015
United as bad today as we were against Watford. Can’t see LVG seeing much of 2016 at this rate.
— David Mellor (@davidmellor79) December 26, 2015
I just don’t understand why Martial is playing out wide again. This United squad hurts my head haha
— Samuel David Carter (@samarchitects) December 26, 2015
LVG may be the problem but unfortunately United don’t have the players . Blind , Carrick , Herera , Fellani , Depay , Mata not good enough ?
— Niall Ronan (@NiallRonan777) December 26, 2015

Pretty sure our banter years XI would smash this United team, couple of Lord Bendtner strikes maybe a Denilson 40 yarder
— ali (@aliladiere) December 26, 2015
Yes we can blame Van Gaal all day but the lack of fight and desire to win by the players is disgusting #mufc

Touch pass, touch pass it’s like watching a 6 on 6 training box game…. The dangers of a stat obsessed manager!! #ManUtd — Peter Trego (@tregs140) December 26, 2015
I really want #ManUtd to lose this game. That’s the only way LVG will be fired. The worst side I’ve ever seen.

Perfect Christmas gift to #ManUtd fans seems to be sacking of their coach. Where has the club come to? Shameful — Kaushik (@GoonerCule) December 26, 2015
Man United are making Arnautovic look like Ibrahimovic.
— Jonas Giæver (@CheGiaevara) December 26, 2015
I don’t even mind if @ManUtd lose today as long as this will ensure that LVG is heading out the door by tomorrow morning. #ManUtd — Adam Safar (@xadusx) December 26, 2015
One of the most things i miss about #ManUtd is their magical comebacks during Sir Alex’s time. They had the passion to turn the game around.

Remember when #ManUtd used to be feared and a challenge for teams?! now they are just pathetic with no fight at all. well except #Rooney
— Greg (@chivers1989) December 26, 2015
LVG should have kept all da wine n mince pies 4 himself. He definitely will need them after he gets fired #ManUtd — MmekwaneWit2M’s (@Mmekwaan) December 26, 2015
Funnily enough, there was a bit of praise for Rooney’s performance, after he came off the bench.
Only players that have showed a bit passion in this game is Rooney and Young
— Blair (@Blairconway9) December 26, 2015
Dare I suggest Wayne Rooney has improved United?
— Vincent Rodriguez (@VRodriguezlaw) December 26, 2015

There was only one man in the firing line overall, though…
Dear Louis van Gaal, As a fan of the biggest club in the world, we would like to thank you for all the time & effort you put it in…
— UtdTweets (@UnitedTweets_) December 26, 2015
Not one Manchester United fan got what they wanted for Christmas because Louis Van Gaal is still alive.
— Jurgen Klopp (@ItsJurgenKlopp) December 26, 2015
If van Gaal leaves tomorrow, can he please take Fellaini, Memphis, Blind and the rest of the useless players with him.

A few United players going through the motions here, like they want LVG out. They should be careful. Any new manager might want them out.
— Ian Ridley (@IanRidley1) December 26, 2015
#mufc fans applauding their team off. Get a wave from Van Gaal. 2nd half better but this was a wretched result and performance. 2-0 Stoke.
— Henry Winter (@henrywinter) December 26, 2015
#mufc now seven without a win. That’s not happened since December 1989.
