Alas, the best story of Euro 2016 has come to an end.

It was an amazing achievement to get as far as they did, but Iceland's Euros journey came to a shuddering halt at the Stade de France on Sunday night, where they were beaten 5-2 by a rampant France side. In light of Sunday evening’s events, their 2-1 victory over England in the last 16 reflects even worse on Wayne Rooney and company that it did last Monday night. By that logic, considering Ireland only lost to the hosts by a goal and were a man down for half an hour or so, it's making us look a lot better all of a sudden. On Sunday though, people, including Gary Lineker, seemed keen to heap further misery on England, putting the cap on what has been a miserable week. https://twitter.com/GaryLineker/status/749684889637756929 https://twitter.com/SamWallaceTel/status/749691859178557440 https://twitter.com/tomwfootball/status/749691580576108544 https://twitter.com/HowardMWebb/status/749691484115439617 https://twitter.com/dacourtolivier/status/749691376732872705 https://twitter.com/dreamteamfc/status/749691298614050816 https://twitter.com/philmcnulty/status/749691196126134272 https://twitter.com/cooper_m/status/749691159002411008 https://twitter.com/IrvineWelsh/status/749691147648372736 https://twitter.com/RodneyMarsh10/status/749690655845261313 https://twitter.com/mickquinn1089/status/749690483971096577
