Twitter got more than a little uproarious after Ulster’s Jared Payne was sent off for a tackle on Saracens’ Alex Goode in the Heineken Cup quarter-final on Saturday evening.
Just saw the Jared Payne red card.if that’s a red in rugby these days they may aswell do away with contact. #ridiculous eyes clearly on ball

Unfortunate for Jared Payne that the ref checked the medical chart rather than the TV screen. A yellow would of been fair. Hope ulster win!

Im all for player welfare but that decision to send off jared payne is absolute bulls**t no grounds for red card #ulstervsaracens #ulster

Feel so sorry for Jared Payne. Absolutely no intent but he must be feeling awful. Hopefully a swift recovery for Goode!

Jared Payne given a red card after four minutes after mid-air collision with Alex Goode. Not malicious but Goode carried off on stretcher

Red card for Jared Payne. Awful tackle, but maybe a tiny bit unlucky it wasn’t just yellow.

#RedOrNot debate is raging on in the Twittersphere. Jared Payne takes Alex Goode in the air, malice or no malice, it is careless. Had to go?
