An unfortunate tweet about Ireland’s contribution to the Lions was swiftly deleted this afternoon

It was all going so well…

Warren Gatland named his 2017 Lions squad and there were plenty of places for England, Wales and Ireland players. Scotland got two – Stuart Hogg and Tommy Seymour – but you can’t please everyone.

The #AllForOne hashtag was trending and, we were told, it was time to come together in support of four nations that had become one team.

And then there was a tweet from BT Sport that forgot to include a healthy chunk of Ireland in a Lions graphic:

Very unfortunate but surely a simple explanation for the mix up.

There was a rapid reaction and most of it called on the broadcaster to make amends, including one from @IrishRugby.

Others found some humour in the post.

Soon enough, the tweet was deleted and a new tweet was posted. Thankfully, it featured the entire island of Ireland:

The new version got the approval of the official Irish Rugby account.

All’s well that started off so messily.

#AllForOne – Take Two!
