Video: A bone-crunching compilation of big GAA hits, including a few belters from this year’s Championship

We all watch GAA for the great scores, the great skill and the unbridled passion but as long as nobody gets seriously hurt, everyone loves seeing a bone-crunching hit every now and again.

We all watch GAA for the great scores, the great skill and the unbridled passion but as long as nobody gets seriously hurt, everyone loves seeing a bone-crunching hit every now and again.

With strength and conditioning now an integral part of inter-county Gaelic Football and hurling and players increasingly beginning to resemble professional athletes, some of the collisions involving GAA players these days, the vast majority of them fair, can be frightening.

One only has to think of the coming together of Mark McHugh and Stephen Gollogly in the Ulster Final that forced the withdrawal of both players or Tom Cunniffe’s perfectly-timed shoulder charge on Peter Harte in the All-Ireland semi-final, just two examples of the shuddering hits featured in this two-minute compilation of big hits in the GAA in recent years.

We can feel our bones quaking just looking at it.
