Yoann Huget, meet Benson Stanley.
We’re barely a wet week into 2014 at this stage, but already the Top 14 clash between Toulouse and Clermont has delivered one of the biggest rugby hits you’ll see this year.
We might be a few days late with this but thanks to the folks at Rugby Dump this morning, our heads were turned in the direction of a seismic collision between Clermont’s Benson Stanley and Toulouse’s Yoann Huget at the Stade Ernest Wallon on Sunday.
Australian born but capped by the All-Blacks, Stanley has something of a reputation as a tough tackler from his playing days in New Zealand and although Huget was primed for the tackle and could do precious little about it, Stanley made sure that he was going to feel the effects of it for a good few minutes afterwards.
It maybe wasn’t quite as ferocious as Joe Marler’s thumping tackle on George North at the weekend, but not a bad effort all the same.
