VIDEO: A guy in France made an electric guitar out of a hurley and it sounds amazing

Lovely hurling

Conor Heneghan

This is amazing.

Many a hurling great has made sweet music with a hurley since the sport was invented but a guy in France has done so in a very literal sense with something that would be the ideal Christmas present for hurling and music fans.

JOE reader Paul McCarthy from Cobh in Cork got in touch overnight to bring our attention to what can only be described as an electric guitar hurley, fashioned by a Frenchman and a neighbour of a friend of Paul’s who requested he send on the hurley from Cobh so she could have it transformed into a musical instrument.

The Frenchman in question, Michel Perez of M7 instruments, soon worked his magic on it and the end result, as you’ll hear when listening to Michel play slide guitar below, is pretty incredible.

Sure TJ Reid could score you a couple of goals in an All-Ireland Final at Croke Park, but could he do this with a hurley?

We’ll take 500 please.

Cheers to Paul McCarthy for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to [email protected] or find us on Facebook or Twitter
