What a lovely tribute.

The life of the great Jonah Lomu was celebrated in a memorial service in Eden Park in Auckland earlier today, nearly two weeks on from his death at the age of 40.

Thousands of people attended the service, which was marked with a stirring and emotional haka performed by many of Lomu’s former team-mates.

Another of Lomu’s team-mates, Eric Rush, who played with Lomu for the All-Blacks and the New Zealand sevens side, delivered Lomu’s eulogy at the service in what was a warm, moving and at times very funny speech.

Rush told the audience a number of great stories about Lomu, about his experiences with him on and off the pitch, including the time he ate a baguette with 16 boiled eggs in it.
