Video: A Westmeath soccer player scored a worldie of a free kick over the weekend

This is right out of the top drawer…

Remember the days when free kicks used to be flying in every other week when the likes of David Beckham, Juninho Pernambucano, Ian Harte and Rivaldo were in their pomp but the art seems to be dying out a little bit.

Well, the art seems to be very much alive in Westmeath after footage from a pre-season game between Castlepollard Celtic and Ballymahon arrived in our inbox this morning.

Castlepollard won the game 7-2 with Donnie ‘The Bachelor’ Moore scoring a hat-trick, Paddy Cheevers grabbing a brace along with strikes from Robbie Cooney and Max Charles.

The man with the best name on the team, Max Charles, stole the show though as his goal was something special. Max stepped up to a free kick and Powered the ball into top corner of the net from all of 35 yards out. Thronker…
