We strongly advise you don’t watch this if you are any way sensitive, as this is a real shocker. The good news is the player is going to be okay.

Over the weekend, live on South African TV, 18-year-old Martin Groenewald suffered one of the most gruesome injuries we’ve ever seen on a rugby pitch.

Playing for Grey High against a team called Grey College, a relatively harmless tackle left Groenewald with a double break below the knee, with his fibia and tibia snapped.

You can clearly see the double break in the clip, and the reaction of his team-mates and opponents tells you just how shocking this injury was.

The good news is that after Groenewald was taken to hospital, he had surgery on his leg and while he faces a long road to recovery, he should play again.

Final warning, if squeamish, don’t press play.
