Combat sports usually come with the possibility of some highlight reel finishes, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see this knock out by Canelo Alvarez played on boxing montages for years to come.
Amir Khan had spoken a lot over the past week and had even brought up the possibility of fighting Conor McGregor, the go-to move for any fighter hoping to promote himself at the minute.
We think Amir won’t have too much to say about this KO though…

The fight itself had been going reasonably well for Khan in the opening rounds as he fought from distance and frustrated Alvarez at times.
However, Alvarez managed to close the distance and effectively worked the body of Khan which slowed the British fighter down and tightened up the fight.
In the sixth round, it all came to a head and Alvarez produced this dramatic KO which obliterated Khan, and he never looked like standing up during the count.
Luckily, Khan was up and conscious after the stunning KO, which is the important thing after a fight.
Conor McGregor was quick to praise Amir Khan’s decision to go up in weight and take the fight, something he knows all about…

The calls now are for Alvarez to fight Gennady Glolovkin, a fight which basically everyone wants to see now.
