The Duhallow A League final ended up in a win for Newmarket, but the game involved a ferocious hit on one of their players, John ‘Skip’ Lane. It’s okay, he’s grand.

Sent into us by Newmarket club man Kevin O’Sullivan, this snippet from last weekend’s Duhallow Junior A League final between Tullylease and Newmarket is one serious collision.

A Tullylease player, in red, enters from the left of the screen at phenomenal speed and levels Newmarket’s John ‘Skip’ Lane with what looks to be a very high and dangerous tackle.

The good news is that Lane was fine and, as Kevin tells us, he went on to play a stormer. And the sanction for the Tullylease player? Just a yellow.

Newmarket went on to win the game, a first League final win for the club in 31 years. And, if you are at a loose end, they play Tullylease again on Sunday June 22 in the Championship. Should be spicy.
