Video and pics: This is how snowy it was during the all-Dublin Fitzgibbon Cup clash today

If there was any day to avoid getting hit with a sliotar in a sensitive part of the body, then today was that day.

If there was any day to avoid getting hit with a sliotar in a sensitive part of the body, then today was that day.

It’s all well and good getting excited about watching a few flakes falling outside from the comfort of the warm indoors, as many in Ireland did today, but it can’t have been very exciting for the hardy DCU and DIT players who took part in the Fitzgibbon Cup clash between the sides in DCU a little earlier on.

Although the snow wasn’t falling for the entire game, it can’t have been pleasant to have been playing during the blizzard-like conditions captured in the video above, when Richie Hogan’s goal attempt was foiled in what proved to be a crucial moment in the game, as DIT went on to win by four points.

As well as the video, the pictures below paint a pretty decent picture of what it must have been like for those on the pitch and we can only imagine that there was something of a stampede towards the hot showers at the final whistle.

The joys of hurling in early February, eh?
