Around this time every week, we wait with baited breath to see what top five list the lads at Rugby HQ Down Under have come up with, and as they might say themselves, this week’s one is a beauty.

To date, the brilliant top five lists from the lads in Rugby HQ on Fox Sports in Australia have tended to emphasise the attacking side of the game, be it try-scoring, superb skills etc, but this week they’ve decided to make the case for the defence by presenting their list of the top five try-savers of all time.

We normally have a gripe about the lack of an Irish involvement and we might have made the case for some of Peter Stringer’s patented ankle-taps, but in fairness it’s hard to argue with the entries in the clip.

Each try-saving tackle is better than the last, from Juan Martin’s Hernandez flattening of Alesana Tuliagi to Adam Ashley Cooper somehow managing to tackle two Springboks at once to Fiona Pocock absolutely smashing an English opponent at the Women’s World Cup.

Just goes to show that lost causes are sometimes worth chasing after all.

As usual, brilliant stuff from Sean Maloney and the Fox Rugby gang.
