Sometimes it’s easy to forget what sport is really about…
JOE will always happily bring you the best sports coverage possible, but amongst all the goals, trophies, euphoric highs and heartbreaking lows, it’s easy to overlook the values and importance that sport can play.
What separates the Messis, Shefflins and O’Driscolls from the rest is their unbelievable sportsmanship, will to win and their ability to bounce back from any setback.
It seems that Dave Belisle, coach of the Cumberland American Little League Baseall team, has tried to instill these values in his players after they were left heartbroken following an 8-7 defeat to Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West.
The defeat has ended their chances of success, but we think this sporting advice is better than any trophy, especially at such a young age.
