Would a hurling umpire react in similar circumstances if he was hit bang in the chest with the sliotar from an Anthony Nash penalty?

No more than hurling umpires, baseball umpires have to put up with certain occupational hazards; getting hit with a stray ball somewhere painful being chief amongst them. If experienced baseball umpire Joe West was feeling the pain after getting hit in the chest by Stephen Vogt's foul ball during last night’s Los Angeles A's v New York Mets game last night, he certainly wasn’t showing it; in fact, his reaction was priceless. And he wasn’t wearing any protective equipment either. They don’t make ‘em like they used to. Hat-tip: Deadspin
