The Bundesliga kicked off tonight, and the champions got off to a winning start, with one very odd sequence of play.

In his first Bundesliga game in charge of Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola will be delighted to win all three points after a 3-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach tonight.

The European champions cruised for most of the game, and took an early lead via Arjen Robben and Mario Mandzukic. Dante then scored in the wrong end to give Monchengladbach a lifeline but the crazy antics of Alvaro Dominguez sealed the visitors to the Allianz Arena’s fate.

Firstly the defender handballed as Thomas Muller tried to slip free in the box and from the resultant penalty Muller’s effort was well saved. But as Robben attempted to make something of the rebound, Dominguez handled the ball again, giving away a second penalty.

This time David Alaba stepped up, made no mistake and killed the game as a contest.
