Seattle Seahawks corner back Richard Sherman is no stranger to having the media spotlight on him, and he certainly has a reputation for talking trash and grabbing attention with his interviews.
On Sunday night after his side’s win over the San Francisco 49ers, in which he was involved in the final defensive play that ensured the victory for Seattle, he gave an amazing WWE-style rant about wide receiver Michael Crabtree that sent the internet into overdrive. Here’s an example of the best bit of manipulation we’ve seen so far, which puts him alongside ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund.
Since then, the famous headphone company Beats by Dre have released this commercial with Sherman, which touches on exactly the topic at hand, namely his reputation in the media. The ad, which is the latest in their ‘Hear What You Want’ series, featuring a number of pro athletes in the States, and while we’re presuming that they filmed this a while back, they couldn’t have planned for just how perfect the timing would be.
