14 points from Paddy Jackson and a try from Darren Cave helped Ulster to an away victory in Zebre today and the five-pointer was a thing of beauty.

With the sides tied on six points apiece midway through the first half, Cave touched down under the posts at his leisure after a brilliant move involving Paul Marshall, Paddy Jackson and Craig Gilroy cut open the Zebre defence.

From a ruck just inside the left-hand touchline in the Zebre 22, Marshall fed Jackson, who put Gilroy away through a gap with a lovely reverse pass and the winger in turn showed lovely hands to put it on a plate for Cave to apply the easiest of finishes.

Ulster didn’t score for the last half an hour and they conceded a try through Guglielmo Palazzani in the second half but they held on for an eight point victory that sees them move to third place in the RaboDirect PRO 12 table, for the time being at least.
