He’s only got two games left in an Irish jersey, but on Against the Head last night, Bernard Jackman illustrated that Brian O’Driscoll will be going out while still at the top of his game.

O’Driscoll will be become the most capped international rugby player of all time when he takes the field to face Italy at the weekend in what will be his second last game in an Irish jersey before he hangs up his boots for good.

Though quietly effective in the Six Nations so far, O’Driscoll’s performances have come in for criticism in some quarters and on Against the Head on RTE last night, BOD’s former Leinster and Ireland team-mate and current Grenoble coach Bernard Jackman was keen to show why he still has a lot to offer at the highest level.

Some of Jackman’s analysis focussed on very simple parts of the game and how O’Driscoll carries them out effectively, but the former hooker was also keen to point out his creativity, selflessness and bravery and to emphasise that although he’s on his way out, that O’Driscoll still has loads to offer and will be very much going out on his own terms.

Very interesting analysis by Jackman overall, but well worth watching if only to see O’Driscoll’s pirouette against England quickly followed by him putting Danny Care on his arse.
