Whatever about an opponent injuring you, players usually don’t expect their team-mates to injure them. But last night, just before Barcelona performed the best almost-goal build up we’ve ever seen, a bizarre incident crocked Javier Mascherano.
Today it was confirmed that the Argentinian is out for a fortnight with a damaged hammy after his team-mate Sergio Busquets caught him right above the knee with the sort of ‘tackle’ that would usually see a player sent off and banned for a very long time.
Of course Busquests didn’t mean it, but that’s not much consolation to poor old Mascherano. And it’s bad news for Barca too, who are already light on defensive options. Maybe Busquets is a Celtic fan?
