Video: Chris Froome gives a fan a belt for getting too close

It has always been a feature of the Tour de France, but this year the fans seem to be getting even closer to the cyclists and Chris Froome took matters into his own hands yesterday.

It has always been a feature of the Tour de France, but this year the fans seem to be getting even closer to the cyclists and Chris Froome took matters into his own hands yesterday.

The Kenyan-born cyclist will follow in the footsteps of teammate Bradley Wiggins last year by claiming victory in this year’s edition with another fine performance in the penultimate stage of the Tour.

The man in yellow was again in top form yesterday, finishing third with Rojas Quintana taking the stage victory, but he had had enough of the masses of crazy supporters who at times almost appear to be attempting to get onto the bike themselves.

The Sky rider hit out at one in particular during the closing stages of the stage and we can’t say we can blame him.

Froome has more than a five minute advantage over Quintana and Rodriguez and is set to roll down the Champs-Elysee as the 2013 champion.
