Irishman Connie Finnan enjoyed a glorious win over Terry Jenkins last night at the World Grand Prix, but he is back to work in Limerick today before his next match with James Wade.

Buoyed by a vocal home support at the Citywest, Finnan defeated Jenkins in what was easily the biggest upset of the night.

The 51-year-old came from a leg down to win the opening set 3-1, and though Jenkins kicked off the second set with a 152 finish, Finnan took the next two to move to the brink of victory, with a double 8 enough to see the world 74 take a most unlikely victory.

Next in his way is two-time World Grand Prix champion Wade and while the professionals will be busy readying themselves in Dublin, Finnan is back to work today ahead of Wednesday’s match. In fact he will be working a half day and doesn’t have Thursday off either as he never expected to make it this far.

We wish Connie the very best ahead of tomorrow night’s encounter.
