Video: Damien Duff was brutally honest about his views on diving on TV3 last night

Granted, he was half-joking but with this sort of honesty, we get the feeling that Damien might make for a very good pundit when he eventually hangs up his boots.

Granted, he was half-joking but with this sort of honesty, we get the feeling that Damien might make for a very good pundit when he eventually hangs up his boots.

The much loved former Irish international dipped his toes in the punditry pond in an appearance alongside Brian Kerr during TV3’s coverage of Chelsea’s victory over PSG in the Champions League last night and he didn’t opt for the easy answer when host Tommy Martin asked at half-time if Andre Schurrle should have been awarded a penalty after a fairly innocuous challenge in the PSG area.

Duffer’s tongue may have been firmly in cheek when he responded to Martin, but he certainly didn’t beat around the bush when replying: “I’m probably the wrong man to answer because I like a little dive myself but by the letter of the law it’s probably a yellow isn’t it?”

A controversial (if not entirely serious) opinion perhaps, but you can’t say the man isn’t honest. Looking forward to seeing you give this punditry lark another go in the future Duffer.
