They’ve a new manager and a few new players but Leinster are still playing as exciting a brand of rugby as ever is this Dave Kearney try against the Ospreys last night is anything to go by.

These two sides tend to serve up cracking games of rugby whenever they meet and last night’s encounter was no different as, not for the first time at the RDS, the Welsh outfit frustrated the Blues with a last-gasp penalty from Dan Biggar to secure a 29-29 draw.

Richardt Strauss, Jack McGrath and Dave Kearney all touched down in a game in which the momentum and the lead switched hands on several occasions but Kearney’s try after 13 minutes was the highlight of a great evening’s entertainment.

Having received the ball just inside his own 22, out-half Jimmy Gopperth got things moving with a purposeful run at the Ospreys defence before releasing Kearney on the left touchline about ten metres inside the Ospreys’ half.

Kearney still had loads to do after receiving the ball but he showed an impressive turn of foot to get the better of two covering opposition defenders before touching down in style in the corner.

Kearney and Leinster had to be content with a draw at the end of it all but more of that from Kearney himself and Matt O’Connor’s side in the season ahead and Leinster fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
