What a way to say goodbye.

What a way to say goodbye.

After 20 seasons, five World Series, over 2,700 games and one of the most illustrious careers in baseball, Derek Jeter said goodbye to the New York Yankees last night and did so in the most fitting way possible in front of an adoring Yankee Stadium.

With the game tied at the bottom of the ninth inning and with a runner on second base, Jeter hit the ball into right field, leading to a walk-off single run and the winning of the game against the Baltimore Orioles, the perfect way to sign off after a distinguished career.

Jeter was immediately engulfed by his colleagues and loudly acclaimed by the thousands of fans packed into the stadium; every athlete dreams of finishing their careers in this manner but few are lucky to manage it.

What a moment.
