Video: Did anyone spot James O’Donoghue’s cheeky wink to the camera at the All-Stars last night?

In fairness to the man, he had just won his first All-Star and was well entitled to look pretty chuffed about it.

In fairness to the man, he had just won his first All-Star and was well entitled to look pretty chuffed about it.

O’Donoghue was one of two Kerry men, along with Colm Cooper, to earn a place on the All-Star XV alongside six Dubs, four Mayo men, two from Monaghan and Sean Cavanagh from Tyrone (You can see the All-Star team in full and the Footballer and Young Footballer of the Year here).

The corner-forward enjoyed a brilliant season with the Kingdom and was particularly prominent during victory over Cork in the Munster Final and the defeat to Dubs in the game of the season in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Anyone who watched O’Donoghue this season will have seen that he’s not short of confidence and he showed as much with a little devilish wink and smile to the camera as he walked up to collect his award at Croke Park last night.

Judging by his cheeky grin as he was leaving his seat, O’Donoghue may well have had it planned rather than doing it off the cuff and all credit to him for doing so, it was his moment after all.

If he keeps up this year’s form, it mightn’t be the last time we see O’Donoghue pick up an All-Star and hopefully every one of them comes with a nod and a wink just like this.
