Video: Domhnall O’Donovan’s ice bucket challenge with a hurling twist is well worth a look

If Ferris Bueller did an ice bucket challenge, it would look a little something like this…

Chances are you’ve never heard of this ‘ice bucket challenge’ that has reportedly been popular around the world in recent weeks, but needless to say, we’ve seen quite a lot of them and it takes something special to impress us at this stage.

Step forward Clare hurler Domhnall O’Donovan, who wasn’t content with simply pouring a bucket of ice over his head but instead rigged up an impressive-looking contraption at the back of his house that required him to hit a target in order to release a bucket of gushing water over his noggin.

Fair play to Domhnall, he could have edited the footage to make it appear as if he nailed it on his first attempt but he was honest enough to admit that it wasn’t the case; it’s not quite as good as his outrageous last-minute leveller in the drawn All-Ireland hurling final last year but it’s up there.

Hat-tip to James O’Mahony for sending this one our way
