It wasn't only Westmeath fans celebrating

Old rivalries die hard.

Clashes between the counties aren’t as fiercely contested as they once were, but the Dublin-Meath rivalry is one of the biggest rivalries in the GAA.

While the Dubs had their own business to attend to in Croker yesterday – which they did in some style – their supporters still took no small measure of delight from watching their rivals lose to Westmeath for the first ever time in the Championship.

Watch and listen to the reaction of these Dublin supporters on Hill 16 after the final whistle in the first game yesterday; the cheers were nearly as loud as anything heard during the victory over Kildare a little later.

Our heart goes out to the solitary Meath fan stuck in the middle of that.
