Williams’ driver Felipe Massa has crashed out of the first practice session of the British Grand Prix in a fairly big smash at Silverstone this morning.

Felipe’s crash marked a bad start for Williams at what is considered the team’s home grand prix as Susie Wolff (pictured below), the first female driver to take part in a race weekend in 22-years, was also forced to retire early due to oil pressure trouble.

As for Massa, the BBC reports that the Brazilian “hit the kerb on the exit of Stowe corner, sending his Williams spinning round and into the wall and causing significant damage to his car.” While crashing out in practice can be an embarrassing experience for the drivers, at least it didn’t happen during the race.
