This is one lady not to be messed with.
No offence to all of those involved, but, sports mad though we are in JOE Towers, it’s not often that Finnish basketball pops up on the radar.
That changed at the weekend when we stumbled upon footage of a Finnish women's basketball league game between Honka and ToPo that featured one of the most vicious sucker punches you’ll see in any sport for some time.
Although there is an alarming number of incidents of players dropping to the floor in the clip above, keep an eye out for a coming together about 15 seconds in when Honka’s Shanel Harrison flattens ToPo’s Niina Laasko with a punch despite no apparent provocation whatsoever.
Laasko was out for the count, temporarily at least, but judging by her reaction, there was little remorse on the part of Harrison, who has been temporarily suspended from the league for her actions and, on this evidence, is likely to have the book thrown at her sooner rather than later.
Yikes!
