Now that the Super XV is back, the Fox Rugby top fives have made a welcome return and their first effort features ROG himself.
One of the weekly highlights in JOE Towers during the Super XV season last year was when friend of the site Sean Maloney would drop us a tweet with a link to the latest in the series of excellent top fives that the crew at Fox Rugby HQ put together every week.
Always entertaining and often very amusing, they’re understandably southern hemisphere oriented but every now and again they would include a name or two very familiar to rugby fans on this side of the world.
That’s the case again this week as Ronan O’Gara’s opportunistic effort against the Springboks in 2004 is included in a list of the top five gift-wrapped tries of all time, a list inspired by a catastrophic series of errors by Jesse Mogg and the Brumbies to give away a try against the Reds last weekend.
Rob Howley’s opportunistic last-gasp effort in the 2004 Heineken Cup Final is also in there and as for number one, all we can say is, Lionel Beauxis, hang your head in shame.
