VIDEO: GAA community and Aussie rugby superstar support fund-raising drive for Tipp GAA star

A noble cause

A noble cause.

The GAA community in Tipperary and beyond have been busy rallying support for former Tipperary hurler and footballer Eddie Connolly in his courageous fight against cancer.

Connolly, from the Loughmore Castleiney club, was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013 and has been receiving extensive medical treatment since.

He is currently undergoing a new form of cancer treatment in Spain which is not covered by medical insurance and a fundraising initiative has been set up to help Eddie in his courageous battle against the disease.

Eddie took part in the Professor Hollywood Memorial Cup – a game played by GAA players who have suffered from cancer to raise funds and awareness – in 2014 and the players involved in that game have set up an initiative called ‘Score 4 Eddie’ to help.

Already, the GAA community have been rallying behind ‘Score 4 Eddie’ with individuals posting a video of themselves scoring a goal and nominating others to do likewise.

The Score 4 Eddie Facebook page is already full of people doing just that, while Australian rugby legend Will Genia was also happy to lend his support.

Don’t forget to text MATCH to 50300 to donate.
