It was that kind of night.
On a night like last night, when the entire nation was united in euphoria following Ireland’s magnificent win over Germany, certain rules go out the window.
It is perfectly acceptable, for example, for a Garda car to spot a load of lads out celebrating Ireland’s win on one of Limerick’s busiest streets and instead of reprimanding them, to encourage them by blasting out Ireland’s most famous football anthem from the car speakers.
As you’d expect, the fans went wild.
